Dvojnie Shashki ("Double Checkers" - Двойные шашки) is a variant of Russian Checkers.
The game has almost the same rules as Russian Checkers.
- Each player needs 24 checkers. In the initial position they are are arranged as towers of height 2 called nebitymi ("Nebit" - небитыми). A nebit was an Ancient Egyptian official during the reign of king Senusret III who held the position of vizier. Thus he was the most important official at the royal court.
- The nebitymi ("Nebit") are promoted to nebitie damki ("Nebit Ladies" - небитые дамки).
- If a piece is jumped, only one checker is removed. That is, a Nebit is demoted to an ordinary checker. A Nebit lady is demoted to an ordinary lady.
