Belorusskie Shashki ("Byelorussian Checkers" - Белорусские шашки) is a variant of Russian Checkers. The game, which was invented around 1984, is a cross-over between Russian Checkers and Chess, but because of the object of that game it is actually a little bit closer to checkers.

The game has rules similar to Russian Checkers and Chess.
That is, the checkers move and capture like the men in Russian Checkers and promotoe like them. The damki (дамки) move and capture as in Russian Checkers, too.
The pawns move and capture like the pawns in chess. They promote when they advance to the eighth rank and become a queen, rook, bishop, knight or even a king of the same color. After that they move and capture as the respective chess piece (for the complete chess rules see the link below).
A king can be captured like any other piece. There is no checkmate.
The goal of the game is similar to that of Russian Checkers: a player wins by leaving the opposing player with no legal moves, i.e. by capturing or blocking all of the opposing player's pieces.
